The Ripon High School boys’ tennis team proved to be no match for West De Pere Tuesday night as it was shut out 7-0 on the road.
It lost all of its matches in two sets, the majority in convincing fashion.
“West De Pere was the conference champs last year and they had a couple guys that went on to state last year,” said Ripon assistant coach Jeff Johnson, who was filling in for head coach Jenna Rengo. “They are probably the best team in our conference again this year.”
Representing the Tigers’ best chance at a victory was Bjorn Hauge at No. 3 singles.
He lost both of his sets on tiebreakers, 4-7 and 5-7.
“Bjorn played really good. Even though he lost, this was probably the best he played this year,” Johnson said, adding it was the last match of the day to finish and lasted a couple of hours.
