Ripon High School head volleyball coach Tracy Landerman sounds like a broken record.
She talks time and again about how her team shows glimpses of what it can accomplish, but struggles with consistency and blocking.
That was the case again last week Saturday as the Tigers went 1-4 at the DeForest Invitational.
Their only win in the tournament, which featured eight teams, came against La Crosse Central (25-16, 18-25, 15-11). Losses were suffered to the same La Crosse Central team (22-25, 16-25), DeForest (8-25, 19-25), Dodgeville (17-25, 15-25) and Baraboo (21-25, 25-22, 13-15).
“I’m continuing to see bits and pieces of things go very well, but inconsistencies in what we do is still one of the areas we need to focus on,” said Landerman, who added blocking also must improve.
Outside of the loss to DeForest to begin the tournament, which Landerman described as an eye-opener, the Tigers hung around in most of the matches.
The Tiger coach believes her team should have been able to come away with victories against Dodgeville, Baraboo and the second match against La Crosse Central.
