The Ripon High School baseball team returned to its dominating ways Tuesday afternoon as it devoured the Winneconne Wolves 13-2 in five innings on the road.

With the victory, the Tigers improve to 9-0 in the East Central Conference and 14-1 overall.

Ripon jumped out to a 5-0 advantage in the top of the second inning on five walks and three hits.

Driving in runs in the frame were Hunter Auchtung on a double, Sam Vanevenhoven, Cade Jahns on singles and Conor

Diedrich on a bases-loaded walk.

Winneconne (4-5 conference, 7-5 overall) answered with two runs in its half of the inning, but that was all Max Huseboe allowed as the junior pitcher, with the help of his defense, gave up just three hits the rest of the way to pick up the victory on the mound.

“On what was one of the coldest nights ever played, Max pitched one heck of a game,” Ripon head coach Dan Jonas said. “He threw 89 pitches, striking out six and only walking one. By comparison, Winneconne pitchers threw 135 pitches and walked eight. In conditions like that, keeping guys off base is key.”
