Tigers make it two in a row

Ben Wetzel connects with a pitch against Freedom.

The Tiger baseball team fought through the elements to make it two wins in a row Tuesday night.

Ripon battled rain and cold temperatures to defeat Freedom 6-5 to improve its record to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference.

Austin Fenner picked up the win for the Tigers after going six innings, giving up seven hits and striking out three. Brandon Winfield picked up an inning of relief in the seventh, giving up one hit while striking out two.

The Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead after a big second inning. Ripon was patient at the plate, with four batters taking walks in the inning. The patience paid off as all four came around to score.

Freedom answered in the top of the fourth with three runs and another in the sixth. Ripon scored a run in its half of the sixth to hold the lead and hung on in the seventh to get the win.
