Track begins season at indoor event in Oshkosh

John Schroeder competes in a hurdles event at UWO.

Ripon High School (RHS) Track team members put their running shoes on for the first time in a scored event Tuesday.

And the team fared well at the indoor meet held at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The boys finished fifth out of 14 teams and the girls took seventh out of 12 teams.

“That’s not bad,” coach Jayson Duffy said. “I use this meet primarily for experience and skill development. We don’t go in with the intention of putting together the best lineup. What we do is give people an opportunity to excel and demonstrate their ability to compete at the varsity level.”
