Win over Lawrence primes RC women for tourney

With the Midwest Conference Tournament just around the corner, the Red Hawk women got just what the doctor ordered: a little well earned rest.

In its regular season finale, Ripon traveled to Appleton to face a Lawrence squad that hasn’t won a conference game since January 2008. The Red Hawks cruised to a 68-51 victory improving their record to 17-6.

More important for head coach Julie Johnson was the ability to provide her starters with a little rest at a critical juncture of the season.

“We got to play a lot of players, so that gave our starters some more rest. Those are the things that you don’t see on paper. At this time of the year rest is pretty important,” she said.
