The Tigers girls’ soccer team was humbled by a 10-0 loss to perennial conference and state power Appleton Xavier Monday.
The Hawks put pressure on Ripon from the opening whistle, and the Tigers spent much of the first half defending with all 11 players.
The Tigers were barely able to cross the midfield line, and Appleton continued to send balls into the penalty area, scoring four goals in the first half.
Ripon attempted to reorganize at halftime, but the Hawks scored four more times in the first 10 minutes taking advantage of some fatigue among the defenders. When Appleton scored twice more in the 71st and 73rd minutes, the referee ended the game.
