Known for its downtown attractions, live music shows and historic sites, the city of Ripon offers a little something for everyone.

Summer is in full swing in the Ripon area and there’s a lot to check out.

Here’s your guide to everything going on in Ripon and Green Lake this week:

Public Meetings

The Ripon School Board meets Monday at 6 p.m. in the Ripon High School Media Center.

  • It will discuss the 2020-21 Reading Report, Consider Approval to Hire Professional Staff and consider adjourning to executive session to consider an early graduation request.

The Green Lake Park & Recreation/Tree Board meets Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Room.

  • It will discuss Lighting for athletic field, Kiosk and boat launching fee payment deposit boxes, Parking surface project update, Pier extension update, Pickleball court update, Beach house roof update, .Dog park update, Splash pad, Discussion regarding HarborMaster Position, Donation to Boys & Girls Club and Wharf Extension along South Lawson Drive.

The Green Lake School Board meets at 5 p.m. in the Library Media Center.

Cause of the Mondays: Kenyan Scholarship Fund

WhereVines & Rushes Winery will host Cause of the Mondays today to benefit the Kenyan Scholarship Fund.

In a small town in Kenya Africa there is an orphanage — the New Life Community Center — dedicated to helping young boys grow up in a safe, loving and nourishing environment.

The Kenyan Scholarship Fund is helping these young men take the next step by: Providing financial assistance in obtaining a higher education - Trade School, University or an Apprenticeship as well as giving guidance to the men as they figure out where they might want to live and work.

Vines & Rushes will donate 25% of all food sales to the Kenyan Scholarship Fund from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Yoga in the Vineyard

Vines & Rushes Winery is hosting Yoga in the Vineyard Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Gentle/Vinyasa flow-style yoga class appropriate for most levels will be offered. Class will be led by a rotation of Lotus Root Yoga instructors certified by Yoga Alliance.

The weekly class will be held outdoors near the grapevines. In the case of inclement weather, class will be cancelled. Please bring your own yoga mat, sunglasses and water.

Community price of $5 per class. Please pay outside with cash (exact change if possible). Lotus Root Yoga passes may also be used.

After yoga, purchase a glass of wine, check out the chef's menu specials and relax on the patio. Vines & Rushes offers a variety of beverages and food items.

The winery is open until 9 pm.

Green Lake Concerts in the Park

The Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will host Concerts in the Park Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. featuring live Entertainment by the Del Rays.

The event is presented by Fortifi Bank and catered by Goose Blind Grill & Bar as well as 680 North Restaurant.

The “Del Rays” are all former members of the “Outa Style Show Band.” The “DEL RAY’S” are a four-piece band that has been performing together since the late 1970’s. The “DEL RAY’S” perform a variety of rock & roll from the 50’s, 60’s, and the 70’s. The “DEL RAY’S” have a knack for getting the crowd involved and keeping them dancing all night long.

“There’s nothing better than being able to hang out at Deacon Mills Park in the warmth of summertime for the 2021 Green Lake Concerts in the Park Series! Listening to live music, being by the lake, and enjoying a snack or refreshment – doesn’t sound like there’s a better way to spend a Wednesday night,” The Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce says of the event.

Thursday, July 22 — Animal magnets for teens:

Mold a favorite pet out of air-dry clay and create a magnet Thursday, July 22 at 2 p.m. at Ripon Public Library.

Ripon Senior Center Brat Fry

The Ripon Senior Center is hosting a Brat Fry in Murray Park Friday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. offering brats, burgers, chips and a drink.

The event will be in the Murray Park Pavilion and costs $3 per senior men, $4 senior women and $5 for family members.

Knuth DJ Trivia Thursday

Knuth Brewing Co. will host DJ Trivia Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. It is a free event that will award participants for their knowledge.

First through third place winners will be awarded gift cards. Knuth Brewing Co. describes the event as “always free, always fun.”

“Come join the fun with friends,” the brewery’s website said of the event.

Goose Blind Grill & Bar DJ Trivia Thursday

“Sign up with your family and/or friends! The live DJ Trivia host will display the questions on TV and offer up a variety of interesting trivia categories including: Movies, History, Music, TV, Science, and more,” the Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce website said of the event. “First, second and third places will get Prizes!”
