There’s a lot to check out in the Ripon area this week, from participating in local democracy through public meetings to enjoying some community events.

Public meetings

  • The Ripon Common Council meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

It will discuss alcoholic beverage licenses requested for June 1 2021 to June 30 2022, sidewalk cafe/outdoor beer garden licenses, applications for financial assistance from the state environmental improvement fund and American Rescue Plan funds.

  • The Green Lake Plan Commission meets Monday at 4 p.m. in the City Hall Council Room.

It will discuss the formation of a city dog park on property at the north end of Lake Street, application for Site Plan Approval from David O’Brien for property owned by John Meiborg, 509 Commercial Avenue and Consideration of a Certified Survey Map for Paul & Lindsey Whitefor property at 292 Forest Avenue.

  • The Green Lake Ad Hoc Economic Development Committee is slated to meet Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

An agenda for this meeting had not been posted to the city’s website by Monday morning.

Ripon Senior Activity Center Catered picnic

The Ripon Senior Activity Center is hosting a Catered picnic Wednesday at the Murray Park upper pavilion from 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The event costs $5 per person and the meal will be served around 12:10 p.m. Live music also will be featured.

The meal will include Ham, Turkey, or Roast Beef Sandwich, side of Potato Salad, and a drink. RSVP by Monday at 3 p.m.

Cause of the Mondays - Green Lake Rotary

Vines & Rushes is hosting Cause of the Mondays today (Monday) from 4 to 8 p.m. benefitting the Green Lake Rotary.

“Rotary is an international service organization who bring service and business professionals together for the improvement of their local community,” Vines & Rushes says. “25% of food sales and all cash donations go to Green Lake Rotary. Please join us for a night of delicious pizza and salad at the winery to support a great cause and community.”

Alliance Laundry Job Fair

Alliance Laundry is hosting a Job Fair Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Alliance Laundry Systems at 221 Shephard St. in Ripon.

“One-stop application and interview process and qualified candidates may receive an offer that day,” Alliance said on the Ripon Chamber of Commerce website. “Our starting pay is $20+/hr. for second shift and we work four, 10-hour shifts in many areas.”

Yoga in the Vineyard

Vines & Rushes Winery is hosting Yoga in the Vineyard Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“Gentle/Vinyasa flow-style yoga class appropriate for most levels will be offered. Class will be led by a rotation of Lotus Root Yoga instructors certified by Yoga Alliance,” the winery said on its website. “The weekly class will be held outdoors near the grapevines. In the case of inclement weather, class will be cancelled. Please bring your own yoga mat, sunglasses and water.”

Community price of $5 per class. Please pay outside with cash (exact change if possible). Lotus Root Yoga passes may also be used.

Tuesday, June 8 — Sharing Table Meal

The Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon will hold its Sharing Table Meal. The event is a drive-thru community meal that will take place from 5 to 5:45 p.m. All are welcome. For more information, call 920-851-7610.

Knuth DJ Trivia Thursday

Knuth Brewing Co. will host DJ Trivia Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. It is a free event that will award participants for their knowledge.

First through third place winners will be awarded gift cards. Knuth Brewing Co. describes the event as “always free, always fun.”

“Come join the fun with friends,” the brewery’s website said of the event.

Goose Blind Grill & Bar DJ Trivia Thursday

“Sign up with your family and/or friends! The live DJ Trivia host will display the questions on TV and offer up a variety of interesting trivia categories including: Movies, History, Music, TV, Science, and more,” the Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce website said of the event. “First, second and third places will get Prizes!”
